Update from November 27, 2019: Only shortly before Black Friday, Samsung had to significantly reduce the price of its innovative mid-range smartphone again. Samsung Galaxy A80: The mid-range price / performance asset
The Galaxy A80 went on the market at the end of May 2019 with the recommended retail price of 649 euros - a proud price for the mid-range range from Samsung. However, this price should not last long. Already in the first two months, the Samsung Galaxy A80 experienced a price drop of almost 200 euros. Between September and November 2019, the price then fluctuated between 400 to 450 euros, until there was another sharp drop in price to currently 333 euros.

Although the A80 cannot keep up with the flagship Galaxy S10 or its big brother A90 in all respects, the device currently only costs about half of these cell phones. As far as the A series from Samsung is concerned, the A80 is currently the absolute price / performance trump card. You can find the absolutely cheapest price on price comparison sites such as IDEALO, Geizhals or billiger.de.
Samsung Galaxy A80: who is it worth buying?
The Galaxy A80 appeals primarily to customers who want the largest possible display without a disturbing recess (notch). The rotating triple camera has the advantage that photos and selfies always offer the same high quality and you do not have to work with a stripped-down front camera. The built-in Octa-core processor "Qualcomm Snapdragon 730" in combination with the 8 GB RAM is fast enough to operate the Super-AMOLED-Displey with Full-HD + resolution. Even more demanding 3D applications and games run smoothly on the mid-range smartphone.

On the other hand, it must be clear that the 6.7 incher clearly belongs in the phablet category and, with 9.3 millimeters and almost 220 grams, is anything but a slim device. The future A80 owner must do without a jack connection, with a mono speaker and permanently installed 128 GB - there is no way to expand the memory via a microSD card. The glass back may feel high-quality and look good, but this leads to a problem due to the innovation: Most protective covers have a recess on the top for the extendable camera, which inevitably always reveals a weak point.
If you can live with these drawbacks and want to have a large smartphone anyway, you can safely access the current price.

Do you need a microSD slot in your smartphone?
Farewell to a trademark: Rumor has it that the Galaxy Note 10 should no longer have a microSD slot. Samsung fans are frustrated and are already on the barricades - rightly? GIGA wants to know from you whether you still need a memory expansion in your smartphone these days.
