The Freebuds 3 ran slightly under the radar because they were introduced shortly before the AirPods Pro. To be fair, you have to say that they are visually based on the AirPods, but they also offer various unique selling points. On the one hand, the connection between smartphone and headphones takes place via Bluetooth 5.1, which can improve the transmission quality and bandwidth.

At the launch in early September 2019, Huawei was very proud that, unlike competing products in Freebuds 3, communication between each individual earphone and smartphone takes place independently of one another. Should be: Only the left stereo signal arrives on the left freebud, only the right one on the right.

In addition, they offer an optionally activatable ANC (Active Noise Canceling), which significantly reduces ambient noise. And: The case can be charged wirelessly, which is a great advantage if you already have Qi wireless charging stations for your smartphone at home, otherwise the case offers a USB-C interface.

And can you do what? My colleague Frank had the opportunity to listen to the Freebuds 3 at IFA last year. His verdict: the sound is differentiated and warm, the sound insulation for wireless earbuds surprisingly good, the fit good. Disadvantage: There are no rubber plugs with which you can adjust the fit to your own ear canal.
