The set will be officially released on October 4th, 2019, but you can attend a pre-release event a week earlier, on September 28th and 29th. With this, all participants receive six boosters of the new set, build a 40-card deck from them and then compete against each other. You can find all participating stores on the official website.

If you don't have a participating shop nearby, the best place to go is at MTG Arena. The set can be played in the digital offshoot of the card game from September 26, 2019.

September 26 is also the date on which MTG Arena leaves the open beta and will be released as a full version for PC and Mac. So the ideal time to get started with the digital trading card game.

At gamescom, I had the opportunity to talk to developer Jeffrey Steefel about the future of MTG Arena and what opportunities are offered to new players who are just starting out with their Magic collection.

In the beta phase, we already experimented with making the game accessible to new players. Be it through pre-constructed decks or the Mastery Pass. These systems are supposed to open the curtain slowly so as not to overwhelm new players who are new to the game.”

The system seems to be working, as more than a billion games of Magic were played in MTG Arena during the beta phase. So far, however, Wizards of the Coast has remained silent about the number of players.
