Germany has set strict rules for e-scooters. They are considered motor vehicles and must therefore be approved for German road traffic and insured. The prices are very low, but have to be paid annually. The contributions vary depending on the age of the driver. As an example, we take “Die Bayerische Versicherung”, which has a fairly attractive offer. It starts at less than one euro per month.

E-scooter insurance: liability with or without partial insurance
Insurance companies offer two different tariffs for e-scooters. The minimum is liability insurance, which you definitely need. This covers damage that you have caused with your electric scooter. 100 million in total and 12 million per person. Alternatively, you can also pay for a partial coverage. This covers damage to the e-scooter caused by fire, game, broken glass and theft. The deductible is 150 euros. Of course, it's only worth it if the e-scooter is a bit expensive. With an e-scooter for 299 euros, partial coverage is hardly recommended. The insurance protection only applies when the license plate is stuck on.

If you only choose liability and are over 23 years old = , you only pay 10.90 euros per year. With partial coverage it is 21.90 euros.
You can drive an e-scooter from the age of 14. If the drivers are under the age of 23, it gets a little expensive. The risk of something happening is greater.

Then you land for liability at 16.50 euros per year and 28.20 euros with partial coverage. The insurance always runs until February 29 of a year and is valid for one year; it must be taken out every year. The insurance company reminds the customer before it expires. But you should always do a price comparison.
