Although electric cars have also been on German roads for a number of years, many drivers do not really trust the new vehicles. In order to take away the worries of the skeptics, the ADAC has launched a new offer in cooperation with Nissan, which should convince doubters.

Members of the automobile club have the opportunity to test the Nissan Leaf for half a year at a price of 299 euros per month. The total price for the rental period is 1,794 euros. 7,500 kilometers are included in the contract, as is fully comprehensive insurance with a deductible of 1,000 euros. You only have to pay for the electricity costs to “fill up” yourself. After the end of the rental period, drivers have three options: return the car, sign a lease or buy the electric vehicle.

With the offer, the ADAC primarily wants to achieve that known prejudices against electric cars are slowly but surely disappearing. The new vehicles are often accused of being too expensive and running out of juice too quickly.

But what exactly do you get with the Nissan Leaf for a car? The car's electric motor has an output of 150 hp, and the battery can cover a maximum distance of around 270 kilometers in one charge. The electric car also offers numerous convenience functions. An automatic distance control and emergency brake assistant with pedestrian detection are also part of the range of functions in addition to the lane keeping and high beam assistant.

The built-in Nissan Connect infotainment system supports both CarPlay and Android Auto - here both Apple and Android users get their money's worth. Via the app, the current charge level can be queried and the air conditioning can be switched on in advance.

The Nissan Leaf is charged via a type 2 connection - the corresponding cable is included with the car. The battery has a capacity of 40 kWh. If you want to fully charge the battery at your home socket, you have to plan around 21 hours - it is quicker at the right charging station. At a "normal" station, the process takes around 7.5 hours. If you connect the car to a quick charging station with Chademo support, the battery can be charged from 20 to 80 percent within 60 minutes.
