Huawei is causing some confusion regarding the batteries. The "normal midfield model" P40 contains "only" a 3,800 mAh battery, while the P40 lite, P40 Pro and P40 Pro Plus models have a 4,200 mAh battery. The “lite” here does not refer to the battery.

The models Huawei P40 lite, P40 Pro and the upcoming version Huawei P40 Pro Plus have a 4,200 mAh battery. They are between the Samsung Galaxy S10 + (4,100 mAh) and the S20 + (4,500 mAh).

There is of course no reliable information about how long the device will run without charging. It depends a lot on your own behavior and under normal circumstances you would have to get through the day well. In fact, the lack of Google services could have a positive impact on downtime.

Huawei P40: Inductive Fast Charging, SuperCharge & Reverse Wireless Charging

All 4 devices have Huawei's own SuperCharge technology and can be charged quickly and wirelessly. However, the Huawei P40 is the only device in the series not to have a maximum charge of 40 watts - it has to be satisfied with 22.5 watts.

Buy Huawei P40 Pro

model Charging technology
Huawei P40 lite - 4,200 mAh SuperCharge with up to 40 watts
Huawei P40 - 3,800 mAh (!) SuperCharge with up to 22.5 watts
Huawei P40 Pro - 4,200 mAh SuperCharge with up to 40 watts
Huawei P40 Pro Plus - 4,200 mAh SuperCharge with up to 40 watts

If we are talking about “up to 40 watts”, the restriction relates to the charging technology. The devices only get this 40 watts when they are charged using the supplied cable. With inductive quick charging, it is only 27 watts. And either way, the Huawei P40 only has a maximum of 22.5 watts. In all cases, however, the SuperCharge technology ensures that the energy requirements of one day are replenished in well under an hour.

The P40 Pro and P40 Pro Plus models have yet another special feature: “ Reverse Wireless Charging ”. The battery of the Huawei smartphones can in turn be used as a wireless charging station for other devices - such as headphones.
