There is a fixed point for Black Friday and Cyber Monday: The American holiday "Thanksgiving" - a kind of Thanksgiving. This always takes place on the fourth Thursday in November

Since the festival takes place on a Thursday, the following Friday was simply declared the start of the Christmas shopping season. Why this day is called "Black Friday" has not been clarified by the way.

Black Friday has been around for a long time in the United States and has always been a discount day for retailers. "Cyber Monday" was invented to create a counterpart for Internet trade. Fittingly and to benefit from the dynamism of Black Friday, it takes place on the following Monday.

So the order is:

Thanksgiving: The fourth Thursday of November
Black Friday: On the Friday after Thanksgiving - that is between November 23 and November 29.
Cyber Monday: The Monday after Thanksgiving or after Black Friday

There are another reason for these dates: They are at the end of the month that Advent follows. People already have money in their pockets or expect it in a few days. And everyone needs Christmas presents!

Amazon has been extending these terms and times for a few years. Cyber Monday became Cyber Monday week, i.e. seven days from Cyber Monday to the following Monday. Since Black Friday fell on the technically latest date in 2019 (November 29), the Cyber Monday week quickly became a Black Friday week. It is quite possible that the Black Friday week 2020 will again fall on the week before Black Friday. Because next year Black Friday falls on November 27, which is also late.
