The Amazon Echo Studio can already be ordered and will only be available from January 7, 2020. Until then, a discount is extremely unlikely - but not completely excluded. It is therefore advisable to note these dates / shopping events:
- 11/18 until November 24th, 2019: Cyber Monday last week at Amazon
- 25.11. until December 2nd, 2019: Cyber Monday week at Amazon
- 2019-29-11: Black Friday at Amazon
- 2019-02-12: Cyber Monday at Amazon
With a little luck, you can save on one of these days by buying an Echo Studio, be it through a discount, direct deduction or voucher. Experience has shown that Amazon also drives these shopping events by reducing the price of its own products (Echo, Fire, Kindle, Blink, etc.). A slightly more distant date is Amazon Prime Day 2020, which is expected to take place in mid-July.
Expensive speakers or a bargain? Amazon Echo Studio in price check
At 199 euros (RRP), the Echo Studio is the most expensive speaker in the Echo range from Amazon. For comparison: The Amazon Echo (3rd generation) is available for 99 euros (RRP), the Echo Plus (2nd gen.) Costs 149 euros (RRP).
In comparison with other smart speakers, the Amazon Echo Studio is relatively cheap. Let's look at the street prices (as of Nov. 2019):
- The Apple HomePod (with Siri voice control and Homekit support) costs around 300 euros.
- The Google Home Max (with Google Assistant) can be found for around 280 euros.
- A Sonos One, 2nd gen. (With Alexa / Google Assistant) costs around 215 euros.
- The Bose Home Speaker 500 (with Alexa / Google Assistant) is available for around 300 euros.
In terms of price, the Amazon Echo Studio is a cheeky attack on the competition, which is supposed to be explained with higher prices and sometimes smaller sound volumes. Whether this is actually the case depends on the user and which special properties are decisive.

Good sound and Alexa combined: Who is it worth buying the Amazon Echo Studio for?
The Amazon Echo Studio (20.6 cm high, 17.5 cm diameter) is a WiFi speaker with Alexa voice control (Smart Speaker). It can only be used in the apartment (no battery). In addition to WiFi, audio streaming is also possible via Bluetooth, and there is also a 3.5 mm jack socket. Dolby Atmos and 3D audio are supported (currently only with a subscription to Amazon Music HD). Numerous streaming services can be controlled with Alexa, in addition to Amazon Music, Spotify and Apple Music. Here prominent musicians like Rick Ross speak out for the Echo Studio (manufacturer video):

It remains to be seen whether the Amazon Echo Studio can really replace a stereo system - it really depends on the circumstances. But the studio is definitely interesting for anyone who doesn't like the normal echoes and is willing to spend a bit more for better sound. It is also important that you can do something with Alexa and Amazon's services - because that's exactly what the Echo Studio is designed for.
