Our first thought when unpacking: Yikes, the thing is really small. The Anker Bluetooth speaker is definitely mobile. It is also well made: the speaker is protected by a metal grille, otherwise the cover is made of rubberized plastic - the device looks high-quality, if not really noble.

But what does the external appearance help if the speaker is poorly equipped or just doesn't sound good? In any case, the specifications read as follows:

The package contents are quite impressive for a price of just under 40 euros: there is also a charging cable and an audio cable in addition to the speaker itself, if you want to use the device with a music source that does not offer Bluetooth.

The device itself has a volume up and down button as well as a play button with which you can start, pause or even take a call. At the bottom left you can see the microphone for phone calls. Too bad: You can't jump forwards or backwards while listening to music.

Battery life and range

The range of the small box is quite impressive. With a decent Bluetooth dongle on the PC, we could also stream music ten meters further and through three walls. The battery life also corresponds to the manufacturer's specifications: With a good connection and not too loud music, 20 hours of playback can be achieved.

Calls can be made with the Bluetooth speaker, but you should be in a quiet room, as ambient noise is transmitted to the person you are talking to unfiltered. You can completely forget about the telephony function outdoors. It is definitely a nice gimmick, for example, when you are sitting at the PC and called. For all other applications, you should use a correct headset.

In addition to an on and off switch, there is also the jack and charging input on the right side of the device. Any USB charger or the supplied cable can be used for charging.

Sound quality

To a certain extent, sound quality is always subjective. Nevertheless, based on our experience with numerous Bluetooth speakers of this type, we can say that the Anker A7908 has an absolutely solid quality. When we started using the device for the first time, we were even surprised how good the loudspeaker sounds. Provided you don't turn it up to full volume, the sound will tinny a little.

Of course, you shouldn't compare the Anker A7908 with a Bose Soundlink Mini, the first one just sounds a lot better - this is immediately audible even to the layperson. However, with 200 euros, this also plays in a completely different price range.

Conclusion

The Anker A7908 currently offers good music quality for the money for just under 40 euros. The processing shows no major defects, the equipment and accessories are reasonable for the price.

The Bluetooth speaker has therefore earned a " price-performance tip ".
