The Samsung Galaxy A50 is not waterproof. It has no IP certification

As a rule, manufacturers advertise their resistance to water and dust by specifying an "IP rating" (e.g. IP68). This is a certification that assesses the degree to which liquids and dust can penetrate a device. The Galaxy A50 does not have such certification. So you should definitely keep the device away from liquids and persistent moisture.

Worth knowing about water resistance:

Be aware that although one always speaks of “ watertightness ”, in general it actually means “water-repellent”. Even the highest IP certification for smartphones is limited by various factors such as depth, pressure, time and quantity. Cell phones are at most differently water-repellent and never completely waterproof.

The information also always refers to clear water (fresh water). Salt water and more aggressive substances are excluded.

Note: Damage to the housing, bending and repairs usually make the protection ineffective.

Dustproofness can, however, be achieved very well. All smartphones with an IP6X certification are considered "dustproof".

If a mishap happens and you overturn your Galaxy A50 with water or it gets wet with rain, you should act quickly. Dry it thoroughly as soon as possible.

The display itself is often covered with a water- and grease-repellent coating and can make it appear that water cannot harm the device. However, the liquid often does most damage not immediately, but through late damage after it has entered the interior through cracks. If your A50 falls into a pool and continues to work immediately afterwards, you're lucky. With a “dry kit” or uncooked rice, additional moisture can be drawn from the inside. This is how you can prevent late moisture damage. However, there is no guarantee for this.

Of course it is safest if you simply use a waterproof protective cover near water and completely secure your cell phone. If the Galaxy A50 is no longer working properly, you can alternatively contact Samsung Support, who will also help you with repair questions.
