Samsung smartphones are dropping in price shortly after their market launch. This has already been seen with the predecessors and so is the Galaxy S8, the 2017 flagship model of the South Koreans. Before the release, we had already reported a forecast based on the price development of the predecessor, according to which the price should drop by about 23 percent to less than 600 euros within two months after the market launch. The Galaxy S8 cost a proud 799 euros at the market launch. Such a significant drop in prices was initially not to be expected with the many innovations that Samsung introduced, particularly in terms of design. The differences are hardly noticeable compared to the Galaxy S9. There is a bit more power from the new processor and the speakers have a more voluminous sound, but the camera, battery life and design remain at a similarly high level.
