When choosing the microSD card, the read rate is particularly important. Otherwise, the games can jerk because the switch cannot read the stored data from the card quickly enough.
- The read rate should be at least 60 MB / s.
- The microSD card should be labeled at least with " Speed Class 10 " or " UHS-I ".
- The microSD card should have at least 256 GB of memory to be future-proof.
- The Switch (Lite) supports microSD cards up to a maximum of 2 TB of storage space.
- The Switch (Lite) basically supports microSD cards of the types SD, SDHC and SDXC, provided the switch has been updated to the current firmware.
Examples: This is how big digital switch games are
- "Zelda: Breath of the Wild" occupies around 13 GB (compared to Cardridge version: 1.2 GB).
- "Starlink: Battle for Atlas" occupies around 16.3 GB
- "Okami HD" occupies around 9.1 GB
- "Night in the Woods" occupies around 6.3 GB
- "New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe" occupies around 2.6 GB
The best microSD card for the Nintendo Switch (Lite)
Our recommendation: The SanDisk Extreme microSD card with 400 GB of storage has excellent performance with future-proof memory size. It currently costs around 100 instead of 200 euros (as of September 24, 2019) and is worth the money:

- An extremely fast read rate of up to 160 MB / s.
- The write rate is a maximum of 90 MB / s.
- Classified as " Speed Class 30 " with UHS-1 U3.
Cheaper alternative with 400 GB: SanDisk Ultra 400 GB for around 70 euros. However, the read and write rate here is 100 MB / s. I myself use this memory card and have had no problems with it so far.

Warning: These micro SD cards are much too expensive
SanDisk has produced microSD cards especially for the Nintendo Switch. If you are not a collector of Nintendo accessories, we do not recommend these microSD cards:

The microSD cards shown here are far too expensive in terms of their storage capacity. This is much cheaper. And since the card is no longer visible when you have it in the switch, we'd rather refer to the microSD cards presented above.
