The news is a bit strange, but on the whole harmless - nevertheless consumer protection warns against participation:

It's really just about posting a child's photo in WhatsApp status and giving it the title “Challenge accepted”. There are no links to lure the recipient into a trap, and there is no penalty if you do not forward the chain letter. This is different with the usual chain letters. It was only recently that everyone was promised “100 GB Internet data for quarantine” who would forward the letter.

However, consumer protection warns against participating in this game. It must be clear to every participant that everyone who has your mobile number can see this picture. You can also view such WhatsApp status messages secretly.

As expected, according to consumer protection, this trend will also propagate back to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and then you really have little control over who sees the children's photos. This is not necessarily a bad thing with age-old children's pictures, but you should still think about what you are sending there on the Internet.

Perhaps you should hide your WhatsApp status for certain groups of people. Then you can be sure that not everyone can see your status and such pictures, but only trustworthy people.
