There is good news for all fans of the series: Amazon Studios has already ordered a second season and the filming is scheduled to begin towards the end of September 2019. The fact that there was a sequel was announced before the series even started. Unfortunately, however, no hints were made about a release date.

When could the sequel to Carnival Row come? - Possible action

To answer this question after the start of a second season of "Carnival Row", you have to look at the production of the first season. It was announced by Amazon in 2017, and yet it took around 2 years for the series to reach the streaming offer - and that only with subtitles. Incidentally, this is quite an average time for Amazon's own productions with a high budget: Series such as "The Man in the High Castle" also took around 2 years to complete each season.

Against this background, it is currently realistic to say: "Carnival Row" Season 2 will probably be released in summer or autumn 2021.

But it may also be faster, because the shooting should start in September 2019 and this time there is no need to search for locations and actors. As soon as more becomes known, we will give you an update here.

Warning season 1 spoiler! Possible action in Carnival Row Season 2

If you haven't quite seen season 1 yet, you shouldn't read these considerations for the second season of "Carnival Row" if you don't want spoilers.

As it turns out towards the end of season one, Inspector "Philo" is the son of Chancellor Absalom Breakspear. Philo himself is a "halfling", half human and half fairy. That doesn't make the situation any easier for him when Jonah Breakspear takes his father's place as chancellor and at the same time declares war on all non-people. When Carnival Row is sealed off, Philo takes the side of the non-humans and crosses the barrier.

So while season 1 was more of a fantasy thriller, it could now be political. The incarcerated will certainly not come to terms with the situation and Philo is also not a patient person. So it rather suggests that we can expect an uprising in season 2.
