San Diego Comic-Con: Trailer and further information on "Star Trek: Picard"

At the San Diego Comic-Con a new trailer and some further details about the new "Star Trek" series were released. In the first real trailer we already get a few bits of information about what it is in the first season of "Star Trek: Picard". In the trailer, Picard encounters the unknown woman “Dahj” (Isa Briones), who is apparently in great danger and believes that she would only be safe with Picard. Jean-Luc has a guess who might be looking for help and goes to Starfleet with this information. Captain Picard sets out with a new crew to prevent a potentially catastrophic event. Of course there is more to the unknown and the trailer already shows us a Borg cube under construction …

In addition, you can see not only new faces, but also old faces. In “Star Trek: Picard” there is also a reunion with Data (Brent Spiner), who “died” over 20 years ago, and the Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan), separated from the Borg collective, from the series “Star Trek: Spaceship Voyager”is known.

As we learned through Comic-Con, there will be even more guest appearances by old “Star Trek” actors. In the first season of "Star Trek: Picard" Jonathan Frakes (William T. Riker, number 1) and Marina Sirtis (Counselor Deanna Troi) are supposed to take on their well-known roles again. Also Jonathan Del Arco, in "Star Trek - The Next Generation" the individual Borg drone Hugh (or Third of Five) and "Star Trek: Voyager" played the antagonist Fantome will be on display again as Hugh.

Film poster invites you to speculate

The first movie poster for the series "Star Trek: Picard" published by Amazon raises some questions. The picture shows: Jean-Luc in work clothes in front of his winery. Next to him is a pit bull with a Starfleet badge on his collar. In the background you can see the Picard estate and some modern buildings, which further reinforces our assumption after the teaser trailer that Jean-Luc has returned to earth.

The sky of the film poster does not look like earth. A huge round object in the sky is caught by sunlight - is it another planet or a very close moon? Is Picard on another planet and has only built his winery here? Or are we still on earth and are we witnessing a supernova? Or do we just interpret too much in the small picture and it is simply the artistic representation of a sun halo, i.e. a round light effect, which is caused by the refraction of the light and reflections from ice crystals?

Picard shows the first teaser at his winery

Something happened 15 years ago. Something that led Jean-Luc to leave Starfleet and continue the Picard winery in La Barre, France. In "The Next Generation" we have already learned that Jean-Luc has always heard "above the clouds" and that family life as a winemaker on earth was never his destiny. But what happens that Jean-Luc turns his back on the Enterprise and now produces the Château Picard, which his father Maurice and then his brother Robert made before her death?
