Germany start of "The Mandalorian" season 1?

The United States, Netherlands and Canada launched “The Mandalorian” together with the Disney + streaming service on November 12, 2019. Like all "Disney + Originals", the eight episodes of the first season are not released in one piece, but rather on a weekly basis. Disney's new video-on-demand platform has been available in Germany and many other European countries since March 24, 2020. In this country too, the individual chapters of the series appear on a weekly basis.

For the fact that we had to wait a little longer, there is at least one reassuring hint for all fans of the new "Star Wars" series: It will not be a season. Back in July 2019, Jon Favreau officially announced to Collider that he was already working on the second season of "The Mandalorian".

"The Mandalorian": Details on the "Star Wars" series

Unlike the last animated series, "The Mandalorian" is a live action series. The series started at the end of 2019 at the same time as the launch of the new streaming service "Disney +". Jon Favreau, who is known as the director of films like "Iron Man" or "Jungle Book", is responsible for the series.

The main role is played by Pedro Pascal. Pascal is known as Oberyn Martell from the fourth season of "Game of Thrones". In addition, Pascal was one of the drug hunters in "Narcos" and takes on the role of villain in "Wonder Woman 1984" in 2020.

In November 2019, Favreau posted a post on Instagram announcing the first tangible details about the story. There he also revealed that the series will be called " The Mandalorian ". So it's about the warlike race, which also includes the two well-known bounty hunters Boba and Jango Fett.

The post states that the series takes place after the fall of the empire and before the rise of the first order. Spectators will "follow the adventures of a lone gunslinger in the outer realms of the galaxy - far from the strong arm of the new republic."

The series will play five years after the events of Star Wars 6: The Return of the Jedi. At this point, the empire is finally defeated in the Battle of Jakku, leaving the many damaged star destroyers on various planets.

The "Making Star Wars" website has some more details. The fall of the empire leads to an open conflict on Mandalore, which could have a major impact on the rest of the galaxy. Mandalore has not been featured in previous Star Wars films, but the planet played an important role in the animated series “Clone Wars” and “Rebels”.

In October 2019, Favreau posted a picture of himself on the side of Star Wars creator George Lucas, which was created on the set of "The Mandalorian":

A weapon from the series can also be seen on his Instagram account. “Star Wars” fans recognize similarities to the weapon that Boba Fett wore in the legendary 1978 holiday special. In the game "The Force Unleashed" the combat device reappeared.
