While you only have to open the AirPods Pro case on an iPhone next to the phone to initiate the connection, it is a bit more cumbersome with Android. But first of all it is important that it works at all: So you can also buy the AirPods Pro as an Android user and even has almost the full range of functions. How to connect a Samsung Galaxy S10 to the Apple AirPods Pro:
- Switch on the Bluetooth on the Android phone and go to the Bluetooth settings (Settings-> Connections-> Bluetooth).
- Now open the charging case with the AirPods Pro inside (leave the headphones in).
- There is a round white button on the back of the charging case: Press it until the status LED on the front of the charging case lights up white in seconds - now the coupling mode is activated.
- The AirPods should now appear on the Android phone under the item "Available devices". If this is not the case, simply briefly switch Bluetooth off and on again on the cell phone. The search for new devices can take a few seconds, the charging case must be in pairing mode.
- Tap once on the AirPods Pro in the list and the pairing via Bluetooth is carried out.

In the settings of the paired headphones (gear symbol) you can still set on Android whether the AirPods Pro should only be used for listening to music ("audio") or as a headset for making calls ("calls"). Tapping on "Unpair" releases the Bluetooth connection to the AirPods Pro.
AirPods Pro and Android: use noise canceling and transparency mode
If the AirPods Pro is paired with an Android phone, you can also use Noise Canceling (ANC). For us it was activated immediately after connecting and works just as well as in combination with an iPhone.
Other true wireless headphones with ANC are also available for Android users. For example the Sony WF-1000XM3 (approx. 250 euros), to see here in the design comparison:

To deactivate the noise suppression, you have to press the left AirPods-Pro ear piece on the lower part of the stem with two fingers: Then a signal sounds and the earbuds switch to transparency mode, in which the external microphones transmit the ambient noise to the listener.
On the iPhone, you can still select a third mode, in which both ANC and transparency mode are deactivated - this option is not available on an Android smartphone. What is also missing from Android: The automatic measurement of the suitable silicone adapter size and the "Hey Siri" function. Otherwise, the AirPods on our Galaxy S10 behave like normal ANC Bluetooth headphones, with which you can listen to music in peace.
