Video: Twin Mirror: Do You Already Know The New Mystery Thriller By The Life-is-Strange Makers?
What really happened in the small American town of Basswood? Sam's return to his home country soon puzzles him, because not only is his best friend supposed to have killed himself, there are also more and more indications that he did not lend a hand himself - but was murdered. It is up to you to find out what is right and what is wrong with all of this: In addition to the Palace of Thoughts, you can also fall back on a double of yourself, a second Sam, with which you discuss everything you experience.
Take a look at the latest teaser on Twin Mirror:
Twin Mirror: Official Teaser Trailer (2020)
Twin Mirror is a narrative mystery adventure that draws on interesting gameplay aspects such as the Palais of Thought and bathes its history - of which I have not been able to see too much yet - in a nostalgic-melancholic light. Without a doubt, the story about Sam's best friend and the eventual murder is far more mature than the coming-of-age drama in Life is Strange. Whether Twin Mirror is ultimately successful with its concept will ultimately depend on the narrative as well as on the decisions you can make: They should change various aspects in the game sustainably, which of course could not be clearly shown in the short presentation.
You should keep an eye on Twin Mirror if …
… you long for stories similar to Twin Peaks or you finally want to play a narrative psycho-thriller that demands difficult decisions from you.
Twin Mirror is slated for 2020 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Unlike Life is Strange, this is not an episode adventure; you will get the entire game immediately.
Previous strengths in the presentation
- Atmospheric, quiet entry
- Dark scene
- Original gameplay concept: palace of thought and imaginary double
- In-game decisions are meant to change the course
Uncovering notices should unlock new dialog options
How different can the story be?
Previous weaknesses in the presentation
Facial animations have not yet convinced in the presentation
Small, good games that you probably don't know (but you should know!):

Twin Mirror stands and falls with the story as well as with the integration of the Palace of Thoughts: Many of the gameplay options and decisions point to a story that adapts to the player as it progresses. In short: if it keeps the promise, Twin Mirror could drown us in a fascinating psychological thriller. But if it stays linear and only fosters that freedom of choice, it will probably not stand out from the crowd of other mystery adventures. Let's hope for the best until it will be released for PC, PS4 and Xbox One in late 2020.
