While Ali Larter (Heroes, Final Destination) and Harold Perrineau (Romeo & Julia, Matrix Reloaded) join the second season, Talia actress Afton Williamson leaves the series with serious accusations against some of the participants behind the series.

Larter will take on the role of a recurring emergency doctor in the series. Perrineau will embody a detective who will be the new mentor to Nathan Fillion's character John Nolan, which should cause problems with his tutor, Talia Bishop. Since Afton Williamson is unlikely to appear in “The Rookie” Season 2, Perrineau will probably take the lead.

Why is Williamson leaving the series?

As the actress explains in a longer Instagram post, there were repeated racist statements and sexual harassment on the set, which she reported, but which was not properly addressed. So she had to suffer in the mask from racist comments that eventually became bullying. It was only when a sexual assault came out of the mask at a party after filming that the person was fired.

According to her statement, however, she was also sexually harassed by guest actor Demetris Grosse (Detective Kevin Wolfe in the series). She also reported this to show runner Alexi Hawley. However, this should not have taken the usual and necessary steps in such a case and only assured the actress that she would no longer have to shoot scenes together - which turned out to be a lie the next day. When Williamson found out at the start of season 2 that there was still no review of the case and Grosse was not released as promised, she decided against continuing to work on the series.
