After the Huawei Mate 30 Pro came onto the market without Google services, two options emerged to make it relatively easy to install manually. In the meantime, both ways no longer work. To date, it has not been clarified who was involved. Now there is a new method that is a bit more complicated and also has great limitations. It works for the following Huawei smartphones:

• Huawei P40
• Huawei P40 Pro
• Huawei P40 Lite
• Huawei Mate 30 Pro
• Huawei Mate Xs

The restrictions relate to the function of Google apps. Accordingly, applications such as GMail, the Google app, photo, home, fit, WearOS, play games and news do not run. Apparently the new solution is not as mature as the previous method. But there are other difficulties.

While you simply installed an app with an earlier method, you still have to perform certain actions with the new solution via ADB on a PC. And that's exactly where the problem lies. You cannot damage the smartphone with the method mentioned above, but you grant administration rights to an unknown party. This was also the case with previous solutions. So far, no cases are known where these rights have been exploited, but there is still the possibility. Accordingly, we would currently not recommend this and, for example, as part of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro test, we did not connect our main Google account with it, but only a dummy account that was specially created for it. The uncertainty is too great that personal data cannot be accessed somehow. For this reason, Google Pay or banking apps don't work at all. Without a certificate from Google, the new Huawei smartphones can only be used with massive restrictions. You should consider this before buying.
