Actually, I would have expected Apple to equip the entry-level models of the Pro variants with 128 GB. But 64 GB? How embarrassing. It reminds you of times long forgotten when Apple tried to keep us trying to turn on iPhones with a ridiculous 16 GB. No … 64 GB, it's really not "pro".

Would you like a small sample calculation? With a bit of luck, around 58 GB of the 64 GB of memory should be available, at least that was the case with the iPhone X. If I now see myself as a “filmmaker” and get started, I will soon reach my memory limits. One minute of 4K video (H.265, 60fps) requires approximately 400 MB of memory per minute. Ergo: Not even 2.5 hours of video end up on the iPhone … but then you can't install any additional music, apps or photos. In short: An iPhone Pro with 64 GB professional use is practically pointless.

If you want to use your iPhone 11 Pro in this way, you need storage space:

My thoughts on the weekend: The column wants to provide food for thought, call for discussion and reflect on the “news surge” of the week towards the end. A small selection of the previous articles in the column:

  • Disaster of the German mobile network: Welcome to the valley of the receptionless
  • Role model Amazon: where is the Apple TV Stick?
  • E-scooters are the problem? They are the crazy pilots!

Advice to Apple: minimum 128 GB, please

I mean, the ingenious camera is the real selling point for the powerful “three eyes”. Otherwise, the iPhone 11 for 350 euros less is probably the better choice. Seriously: Apple should do itself and its customers a favor and raise the storage capacity in the smallest Pro model at least to 128 GB - but very quickly, not only in 2020. Come on guys, even with the first iPhone in 2007 you are over that jumped its own shadow and “kicked” the model with 4 GB shortly after the release - it started from now on with 8 GB as standard.

Either way, buyers with a good heart can currently only recommend the Pro models with 256 GB or more, especially since memory expansion is impossible. I hope I was able to help with the purchase decision, have a nice Sunday.
