The middle class from Samsung still does not have IP certification - water resistance is therefore not guaranteed. Taking underwater photos or a smartphone to listen to music in the shower is therefore impossible. Light splashing water such as a few raindrops shouldn't affect the Galaxy A51 and A71, either. In such a case, you often only have to deal with minor operating problems with the touchscreen.

Nevertheless, you should also handle the devices carefully here and always dry your cell phone immediately if you come into contact with splash water. As in almost all modern technical devices, liquid indicators are also built into the Galaxy smartphones. As stated in the safety instructions, the manufacturer's guarantee could be void if the device was exposed to moisture for too long or too much and was damaged as a result.

Even the highest IP certification does not always protect

If you decide against buying the Galaxy A51 or A71 due to the lack of IP certification, you should know that even devices with an IP68 certification will eventually reach their limits. The water resistance only applies to fresh water (fresh water). You should not go swimming with an IP68 device in the salt water of the seas (or use a waterproof cover for the device). The deep diving limit at IP68 is 1.5 meters.

Most importantly, protection from water ingress can only be guaranteed with a fall-free device. Every rough landing can lead to micro-cracks, breaks and deformation of the smartphone, which can allow water to penetrate again.

Waterproof smartphone: sense or nonsense?

Actually, a smartphone shouldn't be used in a water-near environment. Exceptions are people who work on or in the water. But there are special devices for this. Or does so many people actually drop their smartphones in the toilet? Does your new smartphone have to be waterproof?
